My professional background and what brought me here… After graduating from Azusa Pacific University with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, I started work at a large insurance company. Jon and I reconnected after college and I decided to make the jump to join his father’s practice and have since become a co-owner of the practice.
What drew me into this profession… Even as an undergrad student, I had a strong affinity towards investing. In trying to increase my financial knowledge base, I was led to become a CFP® practitioner. I love the problem-solving aspect of the job. It is similar to solving a puzzle since a large portion of the client relationship is understanding “who” is truly sitting across from you – who they are, what they value and why. From there, the planning aspect of the job involves fitting all those pieces together into a comprehensive plan. Whether that be planning for retirement or a kid’s future college I love being able to piece together multiple scenarios and help my clients chart the best way forward. I took on the herculean task to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential, regarded by many financial professionals to be one of the highest distinctions one can receive in the investment management profession. I achieved this designation in 2018 and the rigorous curriculum of the CFA program has allowed me to add on to my previous Master’s degree and CFP® certification.
I’m most passionate about… I used to have a lot of passions and activities….most of my activities outside of the office now involve diaper changes, feedings and bedtime stories. My dad told me that things will slow down and that I can go golfing again in about 15-17 years (true story).
Outside of the office I can be found… I am an adjunct professor of finance at my alma mater, Azusa Pacific University. I teach an upper division investment course where the students get to apply their textbook knowledge of investing to a small trading account.
The most recent book I read was… Michael Lewis, The Undoing Project
